Today I went to the Palace of the Legion of Honor for the first half of class. It was pretty damn awsome. I haven't been back in awhile, and visiting after all the things I've learned, read, and studied since last time, I could look on the works of art with a more observative eye. Just a run down of a few noteworthy pieces that they had there;
1. A Reubens. Its great seeing it in person, after looking at book prints. Actually, the book reproduction was pretty faithful in color, but seeing it at it's true size (w/life sized figures) is great.
2. A whole set of Rodin statues.
3. An early Rembrant he did when he was 26. Its pretty incredible seeing a piece by the hand of one of the greatest portraitists of all time.=)
4. A whole set Impressionists paintings. I've been doing a lot of reading and research, so this was a real treat.
5. Plus a whole array of other works of art that were great, and...well, not so great.=)
Very cool stuff. Three hours there, and back for lunch. I took that opportunity to go and check out the the Staff Exhibit over at one of the other AAC buildings. Its dope to actually see work from instructors you know, or have heard about. That way, you can put skill and art to a face. Some of them I was underwhelmed, and some of them I was blown away. One of which was my old instructor...y'kno the one. "Badass w/ his own theme song".=) man, I tell ya, this guy is just great man. I wish you could see. But then again, me ranting and raving doesn't really do anything if you can't see, now does it?
Thats pretty much it, business as usual...Virgin cafe for book 7 of the Preacher series (one of my favorite ones thus far).
There's quite a few deeper thoughts goin' on in this head o' mine lately, but I just haven't come to the point of being able to arrange them in a cohesive, clear manner. So until then...they'll swim around in my noggin' a spell longer.=)
Oh, I'm hooked on Spin City...that show kicks much arse. You must watch it.=) Oh, I'm talkin' about the Michael J ones.
And umm...I surprised myself and watched a full hour of The Real World today...c'mon now, don't look at me like that. I know you all have just sat around a lazy summer day and watched one of the near-daily Real World marathons they had on.=) Cuz pssh...if you haven't, you're in denial yo. heh.
Okay, I'm gonna get goin'. Pow wow
