I just got off the phone with my moms...strange thing, my whole family thought I had Spring Break NEXT week...hmm...*shrugs* Wierd...so we talked for about an hour...sometimes I feel bad that she's back home by herself...I asked her what she did today, and its like "Oh, well I changed the lightbulbs with lower wattage ones, to save money...I cleaned up." Aiy...I want her to get OUT and DO stuff, y'kno? Not just mope around the house...and I wish I was back there to drag her out...to work out, enjoy life's pleasures like parks and other things...so then I just ask her how's she's feelin'.

"Well...I feel okay...but sometimes I'm a little sad."
"Why?"
"Because I know you will come home from time to time still...but your brother. I go in his room and look at it...and more and more I realize he won't be back...and then I think back on the times I always wanted to take you kids places...when we were financially stable...like Disneyland, and those things...but before you know it, ten years passes by, and now everyone's gone..."
"Aww ma, we've been to Disneyland plenty of times...and we had plenty of family trips and all that...don't worry about it."

So we talk some more...I think all my friends can atest to the fact that my mom is like one of the most gentle, meek, shy types on the face of the earth...hehe...and well, it kinda makes you realize how precious "NOW" is when she starts gettin' a little emotional...hmm...kinda wish I could spend some time with her over Spring Break.

Today, I woke up at 5pm....nonoo, not 5am, 5pm. I stayed up till 10am watching a slew of movies...Mallrats last night during the BBQ, then The Usual Suspects(dope ass movie), and then around 7:30am I started American History X. I just went on a binge last night man...meat, fat, beer, and movies...laughs, video games...oye.

After waking up, Leland and myself went over to the ramen house....same cute waiter. Right now, at home I just reinstalled Windows cuz my computer was freakin' out again...seems the tumor came back. So she needs a "booster shot" of a win98 reinstall....Oh, and Netzer0 can kiss my arse. Remember back in the days, that whole slogan they had "Defenders of the Free World!". B.S. Nowadays, there's a 40 hour a month limit on internet time, or else you've got to pay...Whata crock. Along with that big ad banner and a bunch of other crap So I've been internetless for a whole freakin'.......day and a half. *cough cough*....ALRITE! Damn...so it wasn't that long, but I was hurtin' man..I was in the corner in the fetal position sucking on my thumb and imagining typing in URLs in my mind...fantasizing about just a quick "hit" of the internet...just a few minutes.......so uh...yeah, I'm not an online addict or anything...I can quit whenever I want to...yeah. Its just that...its just that I don't FEEL like quitting right now...so there.=P

Ahhhh.....yes...and there's a new girl on the GBM block...she....JUST GOT A NEW MATTRESS!! For JOy! And hmm...her mom likes to bargain=P She's a cool cat...and one more thing....she writes A LOT=) Cinny's her name...she's the bitchanator.

"dude, this chicken is still raw!!!"
"who put that kid in charge of the grill"
"man...thats not good, there's samonela in this"
"Yeah, by the time you bite into it and find out its raw, its too late"

3/23/2001 09:44:24 PM

So I'm back over here at BBQ central...there's like 10 people over here...a few I've never met before, but they seem cool...we're all enjoying the pleasures.....of cow ass...get back to ya later
3/23/2001 09:32:08 PM

On the muni yesterday, on the way back from Safeway:

Me: *taking a seat on the bus, and taking a look around...*
Me: *several minutes later, I spot someone...* "Holy ish!(in a hushed tone)"
friend: "What..whats up?"
Me: "Dude...(hushed tone) Remember the movie Traffic?"
friend: "Yeah..."
Me: "Remember dude who was hired to kill other dude?"
friend: "uh?"
Me: "Crazy gay dude, who was hired to kill the witness..."
friend: "Oh yeah..."
Me: *leans in...hushed whisper* "Dude!! Thats him! Right there!!" *covertly nods head in direction of aformentioned dude*
friend: "Hahah..."
Me: "Dude, I'm fuckin' serious...thats...thats...thats Traffic dude!"

So I'm completely certain at this point that I saw "Traffic Dude" on the muni yesterday. No doubt about it..."Traffic Dude" WAS on the 28. Now, I'm not really sure what this means for me....I DID see him....as I'm sure thousands of people saw him in the movie...but how do I relate my story to others? "Yeah? Well, get this...I...yes...I...saw Traffic Dude...NO, not the crossing gaurd guy...nonoo, the guy from Traffic, you know, the movie? Aww hell, forget it." *sigh* Well...at least YOU know...

An excerpt from an e-mail to my brother earlier today:

"I think I've come to a decision....the biggest decision in my hair's life....I'mma get dreds.........*silence*.................HAhahAhAh.......hehe...dude, you thought I was serious huh? Nono...here it is....I WANT A HAIRCUT>....err...at least I think I do..anywayz, mind takin' me sometime? Yeah...get back to me...take care, talk to you later..."

In a responding e-mail recieved later:

Butt-hole...

I told my co-worker that you were getting dreds right
after I read the first line...and then I read
on...(chuckle)

3/22/2001 11:22:21 PM

I WAS planning to go out to the Buffalo Exchange today, then to the Virgin Megastore to grab some design magazines...but "she" called...and uh..woke me up...heh. We ended up talking for a few hours...seems she just got a phone card...so yeah, by the time I hung up, took a shower and got ready, it was too late to hit up both...so I've decided to head straight downtown...better get goin' before its too late for that too...catch up with me later.
3/22/2001 05:24:00 PM

Its 4:40 in the morning...I got back home from the "BBQ" session around 2:30am...man, that was some GOOD meat...I tell ya. Like me, the other guys hadn't had meat for quite awhile, so after bbqin' some of the meat...we dug in. And BOY did we get a whole mess of meat...half of which is still over there marinating till next time(probably in another few days). I swear man, after biting into those first few bites of steak, sausage, hotdogs, corn and chicken, we were makin' ORGASMIC sounds man...hehe...just a few guys enjoying the splendor of cow ass(great...now the search engines are gonna be sending me wierdo horndogs lookin' for "orgasmic cows").

One of the guys mentioned how in Japan, one steak is like 500 bux...I mean, is that nuts? Well...nuts...but then again, understandable. When thinking of Japan, an image of Japanese cows grazing in rock gardens is NOT the first image that comes to mind...so yeah, importing meat and everything probably gets expensive. He recounted the story of his cousin visiting him here from Japan...and how he ate steak EVERY single day...they had to go to Cosco several times to resupply...heh...nuts. We Americans have it pretty easy I say...but then again, these are things that have become cultural icons...beef, jeans...y'kno. But gettin' a kimono here would cost ya an elbow and a thigh.

Anyhoo...damn, eating all that meat and beef, and sausages, and nothing but beef and sausages...I felt like a MAN!! hehe...yeah, it brought out those basic instinctual feelings of "I am man....I hunt...eat beef...grow hair on chest...wipe mouth with sleeve...". Y'kno what I'm sayin'??=P Yeah...cuttin' into that medium rare steak and havin' all the juices mingled with blood just gushin' out....*grunt grunt*...beef'll do that to ya...watch out! Its funny cuz my friend's girlfriend stopped by with her two friends, and she's a vegitarian...heh...so you can believe we were hastlin' her a bit..."C'mon, just give it a try...they're soybean steaks...don't mind the blood, they're just really good replicas."

We watched Any Given Sunday...man, I tell ya, it was just a manly evening/night. I got home late, but I decided since we began that I wasn't gonna wake up on that same couch..not tonite=) So yeah, its good to be home.

Sometimes I just let my mp3 playlist go...my playlist isn't really like a normal playlist..where you load up certain lists that may have a common theme or whatever...for me, all my songs are on the playlist...meaning hundreds of songs...and I just group them together in clusters...like the Jazz cluster, or the pumped up to go out cluster...or the sad songs cluster...and I can just scroll around my list and see clusters from certain times in my life within the last 2 years...sometimes down to the day, moment, and even instant. Music can be more of a diary than some imagine.

Last 10 search engine quiries:

meixican fashion - Hmm...I didn' think myself fashionable....EVEN in Mexico! BwhhaahA
"before" and "after" shot - I'm not sure what this means, I think it got cut off
Filipino Gay Webpages - ooOOoooh...hmm....last time I checked, I wasn't Filipino...gay? Nah...I think some people are commin' here with some pretty strange misconceptions...
napster immitation - Napster's still workin', ain't it?
cute girls at UCSD - Hahaha...this is a popular one...what? Do I talk about cute UCSD chics all the time???
drunk chics pictures - Err....
drunk chics pictures - hehehe....*burp*
Playstation 2 store avail - ....
UCSD cute girls - See?? What'd I tell ya..its popular man...and I dunno if I want a bunch of guys lookin' for cute girls to be coming to my site, dig?
rooms for rent in mira mesa - its a fluke

So the guys wanna do a BBQ thing today...me? I sorta wanted to do my solitary thing...yeah, call me anti-social but I just wanted some ME time...heh...like just go around the city by myself, listen to music, read, interact with strangers...y'kno...but aiy, can't flake out on 'em now...we'd talked about doing it today or tomorrow...I was thinking more tomorrow...but anyhoo. Solitary time can wait till tomorrow, eh?=)

(an hour later)

She just called a little while ago...didn't get to talk to her much, as she had to go to UTC with her moms, and I had to jump in the shower...the guys are gonna swing by on the way to Safeway...where we're gonna buy MEAT...BEEF, beer, and other BBQ type stuff...I'll catch up with you guys later...
3/21/2001 04:22:11 PM

Ahh...mmmmhh...tonite's a feast=) I just got done with dinner...it looks fabulous..and tastes better...*munch munch* Man, I haven't had straight up BEEF for awhile...I'd forgotten how goooood it tastes...the suculent juices, the meaty texture, the richness of it all...mmmhh....*gorge gorge gorge*

I went to Safeway today, so eats are aplenty once more=) Its a hassle to go grocery shopping, without a car and all...but man, just thinkin' about moments like this...where I'm enjoying the spoils of my journey...mmmmhh....its a great motivator. That whole, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach"...hell, that saying isn't around for no reason.

"Honey, how do I look in this?"
"You know...you look good baby....but I just LOVE the way you look when you've got an apron on fixin' me a nice juicy piece o'BEEF..."

NyahaHAhah...okay, this beef is gettin' me delerious. Mad cow-eater disease? Whew....good stuff...

Today was veg day as I planned...just played games and played around with some artsy fartsy stuff...man, it'd be great to do this tomorrow too...yeeaah. Y'kno how sometimes when you've got a break...and you take the whole break to go and do stuff...and u're busy like everyday going out with friends and stayin' out late, and when school comes around again, it feels like you didn't even HAVE a break? Well, I'm determined not to let that happen=) VEG baby...thats the ticket.

Tuesday, March 20, 2001

I'm muy tired....I feel better after that shower though...it was a busy day...not really busy in terms of a lot of things to get done...actually, busy in terms of things that got done. I'd been out of the house since 11am this morning, and finally got back around 1:30am...oye...now I'm online. Here's a breakdown of the day..

-wake up around 11am, late....jump in shower...scheduled to meet up with Hiroshi and Leland at 1.
-make way to Cosco...buy batteries, pick up pictures...deeply regret not having time to get a chicken bake....*sniff sniff*
-barely make it in time to meet them at the Virgin Megastore downtown
-go to watch Enemy At The Gates as planned while drunk some previous night
-walk over to Metreon only to find it is the victim of the reestablished "rolling blackouts"
-thwarted
-go eat at IHOP...Country Biscuits, eggs, sausage...goood....expensive
-chill...its hot outside, so we decide to lounge in IHOP for a bit
-IHOP closes at 3pm...how whack...we take elevator up and out....Metreon still blacked out
-go to Old Navy and Ross...can't find anything
-take 38 to AMC 1000
-luck out and get in for 4.75....the twi-light showing I think it was called....once a day...cheap cheap...usual price is like 7 bux, EVEN with student id....thats whack
-watch Enemy At The Gates...purdy good...some parts markedly better than others...strange, within one film. Overall...good.
-the decision is made to partake upon another self-declared "extra-film"....we do not bother the usher with our decision
-I watch Traffic, the others having already watched Traffic, go to see The Mexican
-Traffic kicks major ass...first of all...its my hometown...second of all....its just a great film....switch those two
-really made me rethink the whole drug thing....a slew of great actors...Benecio del Turo shines...Michael Douglas' daughter a cutie...a shame she gets coked out....
-movie ends....I get up to leave
-turns out the others came in the theatre after The Mexican ended...we leave
-take muni back to familiar territory
-discuss where to eat
-end up at crape house....good food...yum yum...chat it up more
-go over to Hiroshi's house...watch free cable(Simpsons), surf the web and discuss design and artsy fartsy stuff
-find out Hiroshi is pretty dang good
-headache....5 hours of movies...4 hours of sleep the previous night
-Leland and I walk home
-I walk much further than he
-I get home....feel all dirty....
-open door, grab towel and clothes
-go straight to shower
-feels GREAT to shower at night...
-feel good chilling
-chat with Mai for first time in awhile
-play Pimpwar turns
-try to play Starcraft with bretheren....
-forgot, Netzero sucks ass...cannot play online games with it
-and I happen to be using it
-blog instead....
-I ramble...
-which brings me to my current activity

Ahhh...so how was that for a breakdown...so some Deus Ex for tonite...some sleep..and tomorrow, it'll feel good to kick back...I'm planning tomorrow to be "minimal physical exertion" day...great eh? I'mma veg...get some artsy fartsy stuff done...its gonna be grand=)

Jerome: dude did you drink up last night?
Dan: nah, I said I wasn't gonna get drunk
Dan: only had like 2 beers while chillin' and watching movies
Dan: dude
Dan: I found out something
Jerome: nyehehe
Jerome: about?
Dan: I fuckin' HATE STOUT
Jerome: stout?
Jerome: what's stout?
Dan: yes
Dan: stout is some nasty, MANLY ass motherfuckin' shit
Jerome: what is that?
Jerome: a beer or liquor?
Dan: beer
Dan: it'll grow hair on your ass, just like that
Jerome: do you have a hairy ass now?
Dan: that I do...run a comb through it every now and then...kinda tickles
Jerome: you should consider styling it...
Dan: I already have...I part it in the middle
Jerome: maybe dyeing it a unique color..
Jerome: chics dig it...
Jerome: bwhahahahahah
Dan: heheh
Jerome: I think parted in the middle is a good style for ass hair...
Dan: I think we just made it onto my site as comedy relief with that one
Jerome: it complements the structure...
Jerome: bwhahahhaha
Jerome: don't tell me you're putting this up on your site...
Dan: yeah, why not...
Jerome: I noticed you haven't updated yet.. as of right now...

Ahh...Spring Break feels good so far...I'm here just chillin' in front of the computer...waking up just about an hour ago around 10pm...and not worried about what time I'll get to bed tonite...oh YES, life is good=) C'mon, I wish it would rain, so I could go out dancin' in it...like a panzy...yes.

So I wake up on the couch that I've woken up on the previous 3 Sunday mornings, one of which I was hung over. Today wasn't bad at all...just a little tired, and a wee crink in the neck that sleepin' on a couch will do to ya...I had a few pieces of candy leftover from last night...chatted a bit, and was on my way home. The plan was to head down to Cosco and get the pictures developed from that illustration workshop...for my personal photo references...I think there's a few pictures of a drunken me and some of the other fellaz, but y'kno..=) So there's two rolls of that that need to be taken care of.

I get home...lounge around online for awhile...damn, did I say being on break feels good?=) Okay okay...I finally make my way out to Cosco....walk up to the photo section and hand the guy two rolls of film for a one-hour development..."come back tomorrow morning." "Tomorrow??" "Yeah, we're closing already"...."oh....hmm...okay" Dang...in hindsight, I shoulda just developed them with the regular 3 day period and saved a few bucks...I went there because they've got quality development, AND they've got the one hour thing...so I don't have to haul my arse down there twice...but looks like thats exactly what I'll have to do.

I've always said that the Cosco food court is one of the last, unexploited eating joints for cheap-ass/college students...and so I just had to...its tradition=) Polish doggg! I think this is the first place I'd ever even heard of a polish dog...for those who are deprived, and have never had the good fortune to visit Cosco...they've got a food court...where they sell hot dogs, or polish dogs and a drink for a buck fifty...a slice of pizza(a fat slice mind you) for a buck ninety...and a chicken bake(yeah, whack name, good taste) for 2.69...and the assorted ice creams and coffees. I had a polish dog, drink and a chicken bake...and....well, I guess its not so bad I've got to be back here tomorrow.=)

While I was eating, this Vietnamese family, mom, dad, real real cute little kid, and I guess mom's sister were all munching...chatting it up in Vietnamese...it occurs to me that I kind of miss hearing it...my language. I really don't kno any Vietnamese people up here, save those I'm related to.=) Maybe some of you know what I'm talking about. So they're just talking, and I'm pretty sure they're thinking I can't understand...I miss my people! hehe... I was just making googly faces with the kid when the parents weren't looking=) Really cute kid, I just had to pull out the sketch book and get quickie down.

So I just spent the last hour and a half on the phone and trying to install this copy of Deus Ex...and I am happy to say, it is installed...and ready...and willing...nyehehAHAH....when I tested it out, MAN, I got that rush again...how I get when I get a new game that I'm totally stoked about....I just HAD to turn out ALL the lights...sit here in front of my computer in complete darkness...turn the sound so it was just right...all to maximize the "effect"...hah...I'm just wierd like that...so I start it up, and the flying logo comes across and I'm just salivating...that old familiar rush...I love it=) I think I'll always be a gamer...its just the way I'm built...haha.

So at this time, I've got some pasta cooking on the stove...chatting with Jerome...he's gonna pull an all nighter working on a project for work...I found my Broodwar CD so I think we may have a go at it sometime...not sure...if not today, then later on...I think its catching on again with all of us. I now equate Starcraft with chess...its CLASSIC...its gone beyond that whole "are the graphics still good?" or "but its so old"...its classic man, it goes, then it comes back...and we're completely enamored again...then it goes, then it comes back...its kinda like...what makes a '57 Chevy a classic car...as opposed to a '78 Honda...which is a piece o'shit. Well...cuz its got charm, its got class, its got character, its got moxy, its got it where it counts, and its got it in spades...

So this morning I used my new, state of the art, 2.99, Mentadent-Surround toothbrush...yeah, I caved...I went toothbrush shopping the other day, and it hits me....when the hell did shopping for a toothbrush become like shopping for a car? First the variety of name brands...the different models...the different colors...soft/medium/hard...its like, my god, what the hell ever happened to the TOOTHBRUSH...not the Surround, not the Double Brush, not the Screwdriver, and certainly NOT the Reach Around...nono...the regular one, y'kno? The one you used when you were a kid? With the see-through plastic and harsh, abrasive bristles? heh...yeah, that one...where the hell is that one...*sigh* SO yeah...I caved in and bought one of the "name brand, badass" ones...what can I say, its my first time. This morning, I walk into the bathroom...I break the seal on its jeweled carrying case...open it up, and slide it out...I grip it and...it feels fucking good! Ahaha....its got all these rubberized grooves for better handling and manuverability...I slap some toothpaste on and begin...the first thing I notice, the steering is excellent, and it takes the corners really well. And the comfort...wow...man, I think I just went beyond the point of no return...can I ever truly be happy going back to the see-through, abrasive toothbrushes I grew up on? Can I ever really do it? I don't think I can.....those DAMNED companies hooked me...they've hooked me! Oh woe is me.....

Ah well, I guess its for the better...you only get one pair of chompers, gotta take care of these pearly whites....as for right now, the spaghetti is done, and I think I'mma have to say good bye...and enter the world of Deus Ex. Tomorro, the plan is to go to Cosco again around 11am, pick up my film and have some more food=) Meet up with the guys downtown, and watch Enemy At The Gates over at the Metreon....talk to you guys later...
3/19/2001 01:59:25 AM
