Wierdos I tell you! I just got a hit from someone searching Google for "muscular ass". WTF?!

Dan's Lesson of the Day: "Stubborness has no place in a relationship."

Anyhoo...thats all I'll say on that...for now. I've got to make this quick if I want to squeeze in a movie before I hit the hay...its already 2:30am. Tonite I went out to dinner with my parents and grandparents...we ate at a great French restaurant over in Mission Bay. Now, my mom's pretty darn picky, but this place got the thumbs up from her...the atmosphere was a nice romantic setting...service was great, and the food was great....the place was called The Islandia Restaurant. Dig it.

When I got home, I gave Jerome and Jeremy a call...Jerome and I met up with Jeremy and Emily at Family Fun Center in Clairmont...after Jeremy made a fool of himself on that Dance Dance Revolution game...hehe(well, actually, he rocked it...but damn, I can't get over how funny it looks!)...we decided to head on down to Hooters for some dark ale and chicken wings. I must say, I like the Hooters in Mission Valley better than the one downtown...the service and atmosphere was much more agreeable. We split a pitcher of NewCastle, and each got an individual mug. Jeremy displayed his stubborness, Jerome and Emily were trying to throw little balled up bits of paper into each other's cleavage=) And I was enjoying the...err...scenery. Afterwards, Jerome and I split off to find a party down in PB(Jeremy was supposed to give us a call to link up later, but he flaked out...a word I've been using synonymously with his name a lot recently...grrr)...but it was already 1:20am, and most things around these parts close at 2am...so we were late...we searched, but eventually decided that it would be better to just call it a night...and resume the search some other time...I found comfort in the fact that we're goin' to a rave in about 2 days=) SOooOoOO...I got home, had a Krispy Kreme donut...brushed the old teeth...changed and slapped on some sweat pants...and I plan to watch the last of the 3 movies I rented...The Madness of King George. I watched the Rainmaker last night..and I'd have to say its the best one out of the previous two...or I enjoyed it the most. We'll have a verdict on The Madness of King George by tomorro....g'nite all...OH, and btw...the server has been down for like 3 days...I appologize for that...it seems...*ahem* Jerome FORGOT to turn the server on...hmmm...heh...well, at least things are A-ok now, eh? Have a great break...and drop me a response.

FOR JOY! The DSL honchos just left the building...and we now...HAVE DSL AGAIN! Its been damn near 5 months since we've been without...paying for months of service we haven't even been able to access it. RECOCKULOUS I says. So when I came home, my mom told me...she'd called up the help number several times, just to have people doing everything in their power to avoid having someone come over to the house and fix it...which is exactly what she needed. We played good cop, bad cop with the DSL help line...some of you guys have talked to my mom before, and you guys know she has this really soft voice..."couldn't hurt a fly" type of personality...so sometimes the people on the help line feel like they can sorta push her around a bit. Thats where I come in...she hands the phone off to me, "Hello....this is her son. Now, you can understand me being upset when I came home for vacation to find that my parents have been paying for a service that they haven't even been able to access for 5 months. Thats absolutely rediculous. I want...." etc...haha...biotches. SO we finally got someone to come over to the house...and thank goodness, he was a pro...a professional, and a nice guy. So he straightened everything out in about an hour, with the help of one of his PacBell buddies. My mom wrote down his name just in case anything else went wrong, we could request him...said our goodbyes and thanks, and rushed upstairs to bask in the glory of triple digit kilobyte transfer speeds! *wooosh....*

Well, I'm sittin' here in my computer room at home, with BET Midnight Love on the TV behind me...just providing some background music for my post..=)

Today, I had my first taste of the legendary...the oft-praised, the magnificent...Krispy Kreme donut. If you guys have ever heard of this place, words akin to "melts in your mouth", "SOooo good", "warm and lovely", "orgasmic" usually accompany it. Usually down here in SD, people have to drive up to Irvine(a good hour and 15 minutes away) to get some...but just within the last 2 weeks, a Krispy Kreme has opened down here in SD.

I'd planned to get together with a couple people to head down there today, but due to this or that, it came down to just Nelly(ha, she loves it when I spell her name like that), Matt and myself. So I took my shower, and she swung by, and we were off at about 7pm. (I'm talkin' to Ger, who just got braids like she always said she would! haha...we gotta hang woman...) Anyhoo...when we got there, ya woulda swore like N'sync were up in this donut shop the way there were crowds and stuff! Shiat. I'm talkin' young and old, tall and small, fat and....well, fat...haha...and just all sorts of people, in line in their cars and on foot, to taste these legendary donuts...I was told by my friends who went there opening night that they had clowns makin' balloon animals for the kids, and all that....its like a freakin' circus I tells ya! All centered around donuts...it ain't right I tells ya...it ain't right! Kids and adults alike, runnin' around with Krispy Kreme paper hats on their heads, families showing up in droves, and kids...a bunch of little ankle biters just running around like crazy with their arms waving above their heads, I swear we almost ran over two or three of them just pulling into the parking lot. So we stand in line...which was out of the building, but I'm told it wasn't too bad. When we finally got into the actual building, it was something straight out of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. "Where are the Oompa Loompas at?!" I swore I expected to see some 3 foot tall, orange haired guys, decked out in overalls workin' the magical donut machine there in the back. It was cool though...everything was running on conveyer belts, with each donut slowly run under a waterfall of glaze, to coat each one with a nice, even, crystal sheen.

"Lemme get a dozen glazed please." We sat down, and dug in...there's a special way you've got to HOLD a Krispy Kreme donut, so that it doesn't just flatten like a sponge when you pick it up, since its so fluffy. You've got to put your finger in the hole, and hold it like that...and it works pretty well...I toasted my donut, and took my first bite....the donut gave way with its fluffy texture, I felt the thin layer of glaze crumble under my teeth, and it hit my tongue...and 15 minutes later, I was polishing off my fifth donut=)

After that, I mentioned that boa ba place I went to yesterday, and Nelly wanted to go, so we headed over there. It was a little wierd, being that I was just there with "she" yesterday, but it was cool...I tried the pudding flavor this time...and it sorta tasted like the one I had before..=) But its a pretty cool atmosphere...cafe-ish. We chatted for awhile...prom night, raves, food, snowboarding, how Nelly's afraid to talk to strangers...hehe...etc... When it came time to go up to the counter to pay, I gave my cash to her to go up and pay...

"No, you go pay"
"Why? You're the one who ordered, they recognize your face, you should go pay"
"Just go pay"
"You're afraid of them aren't you...you're afraid of talking to strangers"
"No I'm not"
"Well then go pay then"
"You go...here. *hands me money*"
"haha...u're afraid of strangers..."
"No I'm not..just go pay"
"Okay okay, fine...I'll go pay...IF, you say, "I'm afraid of them"."
"What? Just go pay..."
"say it..."
"...."
"Say it."
"...just...."
"SAY it."
"....fine...*very quietly* I'm afraid of them."

Haha...dang, Nelz, next time I'm recording that.

Last night I watched The Red Violin....it was a very good film. It really made me want to take up the violin, the way it was portrayed...the passion of those that played it, and all that...it was really cool. Tonite, I'm gonna watch The Rainmaker I think....so I'd better get started on that before it gets too late. Night all.

Hoy hoy guys...whats up? Well, today was pretty laid back...a nice day. Man, I'm hoping these last couple of entries aren't starting to sound like a list of things I did, kinda like a shopping list type deal...its just that lately, I've been writing these entries when I'm tired, or have things to do...and all that stuff...I guess the dynamic of my environment has changed...and with it, the energy put into these posts...SOOooOo...

I've been waking up about noonish the whole time I've been back home...I went down to eat and got around to washing my mom's car for her...and while I was washing it...y'kno, the sun was shining, glistening off the wet car...the air smelled great...I was decked out in some old jeans and an undershirt...still had my morning afro goin' on. And it occurred to me that THIS was the type of thing that I could only experience at home. In my driveway, just goin' nuts with the hose, and washing my mom's car...it was pretty cool...ha! "Cool washing your mom's car"??! You say...I kno, I kno...but hey, up in SF, I never get to do that sort of thing....you don't see me out there scrubbing down buses or anything...so yeah, it was some cool chill time.

"She" called me up and we decided to get together that evening...she had some Christmas gifts to give me(I feel like such a heel for not being able to have my gift ready, but after I get back up north, I'll be working on it), and she bought a few containers of those bath salts that I was going to give as a present to my mom. So she picked me up and we were off....MAN! She's a girly girl kinda girl...and boy, did her car look girly! haha....it was funny...like she had these little pillow cushion things for her seats...and like cute little knick knacks around...Hello Kitty type stuff...I was like "AHHH I feel like such a girl sitting in your car!" heh...

She took me to this Korean Spicy Tofu joint....and I'd heard about joints like that up north and so I wanted to try it...it was some pretty good stuff...I had the Chef's Special, which was spicy tofu with different kinds of seafood....and we ordered a potato pancake...korean style...with a bunch of kimchee...great stuff=) We talked and laughed...then she stared at me for a few seconds........I looked up......."what...whats up?" "umm...nothing..." "nono...whats up, tell me." "hmm.....uh...are you gonna cut your hair?" heh...ever since I came back, my friends have been telling me I look like a throwback to the 70s or something...=)

After that, we went over to this new pearl ice tea joint nearby...and it was good stuff..I had the ice cream flavor. And we chatted some more...didn't have really consciously try to be too careful about what we said or did to keep things "light" or whatever..we just chatted like old times.

When the ice tea was finished, we went back out to the car...ready to head home...and she said, "Wait, you should open your gifts now"...so I did...and....it was pretty girly stuff...=) But I really appreciated it all the same...cute stuff.=P She took me home...and I just took it easy for a few....I saw her online, and she said she'd had a great time....as did I.

I just took it easy for awhile...and around 10...I decided I wanted to go rent some movies...so seeing as I have no car insurance at this point and time...I had to "Mom...uh...could u take me to the video store?" Haha...I felt like such a kid...heh....but its cool...I just feel like I made her wait a little long. But dude, I take FOREVER to pick movies...really, I do. And another thing about movies and me...I like to watch a lot of movies by myself. Wierd huh? Anti-social behavior man! heh...nah, but my reason is...before...if I'd watch movies with people...I always felt like I was getting into the movie way more than the other people...and they'd be talking, or asking a bunch of questions...and with me, I like to totally immerse myself into a film...well, if its that kinda film...I'm not talking about "yeah dude, I need total silence to enjoy the full spectrum of emotions found in Scary Movie" Nah nah...but say like, "The English Patient"...I don't think I could watch that with just anybody else...y'kno? For those type of movies...I can only watch and enjoy those types of movies with other people who I kno are as into it as I am....thats just me. Another reason is that when I watch a movie alone, I'm free to feel anything I want...the highs and lows of a film...without having the burden of someone else there...if that makes sense. And therefore, the types of movies that I like to rent a lot of the times, I'd much rather watch alone(or in the theatre on my own).

Hmm...this time around, I rented The Red Violin, The Rainmaker, and The Madness of King George. I went to the video store intent on renting all three of the Godfather movies...but alas, they only had #2 in...so I had to switch it up....I'm gonna go watch one now, so I'll see you guys later...take it easy out there...cuz I kno most of you are on break...be safe.

Whats goin' on people...man, I'm tired. I was pretty much out the whole day. I woke up to the sound of the doorbell and hearing my mom saying, "oh, he's still sleeping". So I walk out there, and theres Jerome, lookin' like he was ready to go somewhere and me with my morning afro and my pjs.=) So I get ready and we're off to buy tickets for this rave going on during new year's.

We headed down to Mileage in Pacific Beach to get our tickets...and if you guys have never been, PB is basically like a beach community...really laid back, and clubs and bars and a Fat Burger to boot. After purchasing the tickets, Jerome took me over to this Mexican food place and we split the Grande burrito and a pitcher of margarita...after, I believe we went over to Society and played pool for about an hour and a half and went through two more mixed drinks. Man, I wasn't even planning on doing any sort of drinking today, but hey, it just snuck up on me...heh...so to speak. Anyhoo...there was this cute girl in a wheelchair playing pool at the table next to us...she was pretty good and seemed to be kickin' her opponents ass...but if you've ever been to the pool hall, you'd know how the lighting is...very stark, and strong...and just watching her, I wished I'd brought my sketchbook...something I wanted to capture. Hmm...maybe it was because she smiled a whole lot..man, I'm such a sucker for a nice smile=)

Basically we just cruised around, stopped by the mall, the immigration office downtown, the Vons, etc...all for different reasons, you figure it out=P But we had some Vietnamese for dinner....at Pho Hoa Cali...it wasn't as good as usual...but thats my SD "fo' joint". Theres a story...a horrendous story that happened there...concerning myself...and one of the waiters there...maybe it will be told someday....someday=) I kno some of you guys know what I'm talkin' about...(Dan, I hate it when u're so cryptic!) Sorry dude! Okay...thats not cool...okay, I will tell the story sooner or later...promise.

I got home around 10pm-ish and found a mail package on my front door....I'd finally recieved my E-Bay package! So I tore it open...and have been trying to use it on my piece of shat computer I've got at home...but its not working...hmmm.....OH, did I forget to mention what it was? Its a pen tablet thingie so I can draw/write/whatever using a pen and a tablet on my computer...set me back 50 bones...usually it was 100...man, I love E-Bay. Anywayz...it doesn't seem to be working...and I'm too tired to care...tomorro I'll figure it out.

No real plans tomorro...we'll see whats up..as for right now...I just can't wait to crawl into my nice...warm, cozy bed...hot damn! I still got a lingering feeling from all the alcohol...really faint...perfect to put me right to sleep=)

I got back from watching Castaway a few hours ago...man...that movie was good. It really got to me too...well, one scene in particular. But I won't ruin the movie for you guys...but really thought provoking stuff...hmm...me? Being overly general, and vague? NEver...=) Anywayz...I was just on my way to bed....I just wanted to post a little something. I think over the next month, while I'm back home on vacation...these updates may be sporadic(although I'll try to just keep tabs on daily activities and thoughts) and paltry. Things are just so much more random now that I'm home and theres no schedule...

Tomorro...biggest shopping day of the year...well, second biggest...I think the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest. Hmm...wonder if I'm goin'....oye, I'm tired. I just watched a Bravo Profile on my man Bing Crosby...kept me up late...and this entry is boring, and I'm tired, so.....I'm off. Boob....bye.

Monday, December 25, 2000

Well, its 2:26am...I got home from the dinner con mi familia several hours ago...just talked with my mom for awhile...chilled...wore several layers of clothing, and took it easy. Its good to be back, but I don't think it'll really hit me till I go to sleep in my own bed, and wake up in my room...thats gonna be a trip=) I'm lookin' forward to it.

Last night was my final night at my ghetto complex...after I packed everything up, my brother came by with his roomate and took my computer and some other small things for storage. So I was left alone...it was wierd...no hum of the computer, no stuff to mess around with...not even blankets...I'd packed those away earlier in the day. Just me...on my mattress, with my alarm clock and phone hooked up...I turned on the clock radio more for just noise, rather than tunes...and thought. I'd gotten one hour of sleep in the last 2 days, but I wasn't quite ready for bed yet...it was about 11pm. SO I decided to give "she" a call...it'd been a couple weeks since I talked to her last...and I was meaning to call her for the last week sometime...so I dialed up:
"hello?"
"hello..."
"uhh...hello?"
"hi=)"
"hi=)"

and we pretty much started from there=) It turns out I called her just as she was preparing my gift....man...I'm behind, I still owe her gifts..and I always tell her "not to get me anything...a bag of skittles will be more than good". But she wouldn't have that....I have to say she's the most thoughtful person, next to my mom, that I kno.=) So we just talked...I made sure I kept things "light and fun" and I kno she was doing the same...she's kickin' ass at school....takin' care of business at work...she's really taking charge...sort of different than when we were together...I felt like she was stronger after these couple months...and....I admitted to myself that I really liked it. Hmm...but yeah, still a sweetheart. She asked what I got for my mom...."uhh...I dunno yet" So she suggested these bath salts. If you guys don't kno what that is, its basically like a regular bath, but you add a bit of these bath salts and it gives off a scent, and is supposed to help you unwind...I think my mom would totally dig that...so she asked me if I wanted her to pick up some for my mom. "uhh....yes please=)" heh...well, I ended things around 1...but it was great to talk to her again..

Arniez99: so was santa generous to you this year?
Dan: eh...but I don't really mind...its good to be livin'=)
Arniez99: tru tru

Can't wait to get together with my friends down here...I haven't seen anyone yet, but I talked to Jerome, saw Nelz and Jeremy online....but you guys reading this, lets get together "with the quickness"(*gag-gag*)...heh.

Wow.....wowzah. Things worked out pretty damn good now that I think back on it. I just finished up a kick ass semester...I'm moving to a new place...a new great place...I'm back home in San Diego for a whole month....I've got a pen tablet comming(thanks to my night whoring E-Bay) in the mail, my mom is gonna make wonton soup anytime now(I asked her specially to...cuz "noone makes wonton like you ma"=), and my pops is comming home tomorro....and thats just scratching the surface. All great things to be thankful for, no? And uh...I did leave gus a little going away present....don't worry, it didn't cost me much....oh, what did I get him you ask? A glue bath=)

As I drove off in the Super Shuttle headed for the airport today, I looked back at the neighborhood...my dump of a house(charming....in a "run down shack" sort of way), and man....I think, "wow....I'm actually get on up outa here..." Then the song came...like inspiration to a poet.."we're movin' on up, to the east side....to a deluxe apartment in the sky-hi" heh...or something to that effect...

I just watched "That Thing You Do" just a few minutes ago...hah...I like how they got together in the end...I could see it happening, but hey...=) ANYhoo. I'm now watching something on Bravo about Irving Berlin. I think I'm going to head to bed soon...brush the pearly whites, and slide into my own bed=) Merry Christmas all...and that whole "Nothing was stirring, not even a mouse" business is a fraud...they're stirring alrite.=)

Whats the haps, paps? I'm BACK! In SD that is....just wanted to get on here and let you guys know I still care....heh...sounds like the words to some sappy love song. Cuz its all about LOVE baby. L-O-V-E and I be...LOVE.

Okay...well, the flight was good...had my peanuts...had my watered down Coke...had my biscotti biscuit....had my cheese crackers...and wasn't that nice of them to hand out Christmas chocolates? I like Southwest a lot now...they're service is good, compared to Shuttle by United. They're cheap arses. OOOOokay, my mom just came in and was naggin' me to jump in the shower cuz we're headed over to my cousin's for dinner...aiy...just like old times. Hehe...its almost funny nowadays. Okay, she's on a rampage. I'm gone.
