I'm going home like...NOW..ish. Anywayz, yeah...I woke up late today...nono, my ALARM clock decided it wouldn't go off...I checked the am/pm thing..I checked the time...all that. It just freakin' didn't go off.....*glaring at clock* Pssh...its cool, I won't have to deal with it till monday. Class was cool...Art History, really interesting stuff...I got there late so I had to sit in the very front...which...was great! Its so much more engaging than where I usually sit (middle to back). I'mma be up there from now on. I also went to Abercrombie & Fitch downtown to pick up something for "she"'s bday...man, I couldn't decide. I kno the rule..."Don't buy chicks clothing...." But I just feel I can pull it off...with some help. I'll get it down in SD. Anyone volunteer to be my shopping buddy?

I was gonna meet up with my Digital Illustration instructor for some feed back on my movie poster around 6, but I got an e-mail from the bro that pops was leaving to get me at 3. Daaayaam....so I scurried my butt home...cuz y'kno what? I didn't even pack yet=X But that was easy...15 mins tops...I threw my laundry bag with all my clean whites in the suitcase...threw in some of my other fav gear, and I'm good to go. I even packed my 30lbs Art History book to get some studying in b4 the quiz on Tues...and some of my other art supplies to continue the hw thang....but yeah, this weekend is gonna be gravy. Now I'm just waitin' for pops to come...since this place has no door bell, I have to perk them ears up. Oh yah, it seems all the lights in my place don't work either...the electricity from the sockets work fine, but the light switches and all that jazz...don't work...geez. I'm glad I'm outa here for the weekend and don't have to deal with that....things should be fixed when I get back.

Well, I'll be waiting here for a bit longer, and then its off...SoOO...HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL. Especially you...*points at you*
11/22/2000 05:00:59 PM

Well, here I am, sitting in a dim room, with only the soft glow of the monitor and a small desk lamp to illuminate the darkness....the 2am hour is approaching, and some mellow Coltrane is on the playlist...and I'm gonna tell you how my day was. Thats why you come isn't it? A little curiosity never hurt anyone=) So I'll let you in on what happened today...

I had a very wierd sleeping schedule last night...I took what was intended to be an hour nap at 11pm and woke up at 3:30am...and I just couldn't get back to sleep...after playing games, singing, listening to music, listening to the radio morning show...finally I got back to sleep around 8am...and woke up again at 1. This schedule of mine knows no regularity.

At school today I ran into a friend from way back in the dorm days...nearly 2 years ago. We'd always kept in touch through e-mail the following semesters, but never managed to meet up. He's a real softy...heh...from Korea, and when I met him, his English was still being worked out...sometimes he'd have trouble expressing himself and just get frustrated with a "...you know..."=) Jolly guy....and when I saw him at the library today, he was every bit the same as he was back then...except the marked improvement in his English. Conversation was a bit halted as it is when you haven't seen a friend in a long time, but after a few minutes we fell back into our old selves. We just joked around about where we lived...I think he's the one guy I know thats got it worse than me, although talking to him, you'd never know...."I only hear gunshots sometimes..." he says...haha....whata nut. After some more chatting he hits me with, "I'm going to the army in 6 months." Wha?? I remembered us talking about it way back...in Korea, the deal is that every male has to join the army...HAS to...there are a few "unless"s...like papa's rich...you get an important job here...you marry an American citizen...y'kno, the usual. When he said that, it just hit me...there are some REALLY stupid laws in this world. I felt sad for him...a promising young Interior Designer...already through 2 years of schooling abroad, being called back to join his nations army for 3 years....whereas he'll probably be doing menial tasks like poaching eggs for officials, or cleaning the barracks with a toothbrush...that artistic spark, stifled....not being allowed to flourish in such a regimented way of life. ugh...that sucks man. I asked him if he was comming back after his stint in the armed forces and he said, "I hope...I'll be...hmmm....25-26...aww man" *sigh* I told him not to give up hope...I'd help him pass out flyers with a picture of him stating "I'm looking for YOU...an American Citizen...to be my wife....for money...pls respond at XXX-XXXX" *double sigh* And man...he's so UN-army material. He's nice...he's jolly...he's pudgy...and he's...and he's a freakin' interior designer....and the worst thing is...the army has a way of molding all that great individuality out of a person. Thats what I'm afraid will happen to him. And in saying so, I've touched upon my whole outlook on the armed forces...which I won't get into right now=) But yeah...I said I'd e-mail him, and we'd meet up with some other folks from the dorm, and go out to eat...

In however many years I've been drawing the figure from the live model, I've never been witness to an instructor bitching at a model...make another notch on the belt for first times...cuz tonite was the first. There's this model at our college...a real nice, innocent woman...around 35 or so...she's a decent model, but you get the feeling she doesn't have a mean bone in her body. The thing is...she carries this dog...wherever she goes...Everywhere...its pretty much like she's in love with the dog...married to the dog. Y'kno what I'm talking about right? She goes...dog goes....she stays...dog stays. I've had her in a few of my classes...and all the instructors view the dog as cute...but sometimes a problem, but nothing that can't be overlooked...everyone...except the Anatomy instructor. Ahh...he's been a celebrity in my posts of late...I guess cuz he's just becoming interesting=) I can tell whenever she models for in his class....he gets annoyed at the dog...I can almost see the words swimming around in his head, "once class is over...its all good...once class is over...its all good..." But today was different. She came 20 minutes late...with only a duffle bag...in my mind I thought for once she'd left the dog at home...she set up for the next pose, and about 5 minutes into the pose....the bag startled to wiggle....back and forth quickly at first...so quickly I thought I was seeing things....but then it started to rock back and forth...and a loud, gutteral growl was coming out of it....everyone tried to ignore it...you heard a few giggles here and there....but for me, after about 10 minutes of this...it wasn't so cute anymore. And as it proceeded to growl...I watched my Instructor...man, I swear I could see steam commin' off of his noggin'...when the dog started up again, he'd stop and glare at it...his chin jutted out....he'd shift his weight impatiently from one leg to the other....I knew it was only a matter of time before he blew up...and it came. After about 10 minutes, he marched up to the model stand, "The dog is a distraction. You know I've been incredibly patient with this, but now its starting to piss me off." She mumbled something...and tried to quiet the dog...but that didn't work, so she got dressed and left....man, my instructor was fed up to here. I mean, yeah, I felt bad for her...but man, LEAVE THE DOG AT HOME please...of course he could've been a little more smooth about it..take her aside and tell her in private...but dude, he just blew up...heh. DAAAaang.

Well, that was that...just a few exerpts from the day. On the grander scheme of things, man...its all gravy from now till vacation....tomorro's class is interesting, and wed are usually fun for me....sure, I haven't packed yet, but I work best under pressure=)....and well, I better hit the hay...I should be just livin' this time up....stretch out, and let the stresses slide off me like water...cuz I'm in vacation mode now baby!

This was what my hair was like a little less than a year ago...now it looks something akin to Bruce Lee's long lost son. All the color has been gone for some time....I'm thinkin' about letting it grow, and recoloring it when I get back home for Thanksgiving...hmmm...I'll let you guys know what I decide.

My housemate was cookin' up a storm this evening...I even had a taste and it was damn good...shit, his girlfriend must be happy to have a guy that can cook like that...pretty much every night. They asked me to join them, but again I said, "nah, its okay...I'm already cooking" And of course that didn't work...but I WAS cooking..fried rice...albeit majorly ghetto style, but hey, it was already cooking. I think they're starting to get a little terbed that I always refuse (politely as I can of course)...but honestly, I think the language barrier has a lot to do with it...like when they ask me to eat with them, they usually have guests over or whatever...and I just don't wanna be a party pooper (although I'm sure they don't see me this way) and like, just sit there all quiet cuz I don't have any idea what anyone is talking about. And I don't want them to have to explain to me whats being discussed every 5 minutes...*sigh* I will go pick up that modem for them thou...I kno they need one. It'd make me feel better.

I woke up at like 3pm..heh...and basically got around to doing the laundry around 6...that means I just lounged for about 2 and a half hours...then took a shower...."lazy mondays...la la...lala la." Nada really much went down today...I got around to doing more design thumbnails for the movie poster I'm working on....still fleshing things out. For anatomy, I have to copy 6 master drawings in the size and medium they were originally drawn in, and then photocopy and shrink them down to notebook size....geez. Its kinda like the "part deux" of the whole skeleton assignment. And I think this is due in....like 2 weeks...pah! I've got an Art History quiz the week I come back from break...I think I may have to do some studying for this one...and I have to draw 3 eyes, 3 ears, 3 mouths, and 3 noses for intermediate figure drawing...due the week I get back...so yeah, there is stuff I should be doing. Right...things I should be doing...I'm gonna go play my game now.=P

On a quick side note....have you guys ever just pulled into a parking lot...and its packed like sardines...and you just catch the luckiest break as a guy pulls out of his spot right in front of you? Its not luck my friend....that....is "parkma"....heh....let Willy explain...("I'm a believer brother!")

Y'kno, I always thought chics with tattoos had a certain alluring quality....Sarin's got a tattoo...how is it I never knew?? Oh yeah...cuz she never said...=)

I've known Ger for awhile...but I never knew she was....such a pervert=P

*holy chanting* My homie slice....through hard times....the one I labelled as an "infrequent" updater....has....has he? Has he CHANGED HIS WAYS?! Can I put that oh so coveted "frequently updated" label next to his name on my links page?? haha....you're close baby, you're soo close....Jeremy, I'm diggin' the blogs bro...keep it up! And damnit, keep in touch with the guys...EVERYTIME you get a girlfriend...*poof* gone like a fart in the wind. Has thou not learn....ed?? heh...

Hey all...heh...the deal with those slippers? My dad gave 'em to me today....dig this. They're filled with spices and different smelling, exotic stuff....and what ya do is, pop 'em in the microwave...yeah, you heard me right. About 2 minutes, and they're done....slip 'em on your feet, and baby, your feet are warm for a long time...=P How cool is that!

Anywayz, today was another good day....I woke up to a call from my bro. Now, I can't recollect exactly what was said since I was basically asleep when I answered, but something about him comming in an hour. Y'see, the plan throughout the week was that my pops and bro were gonna take me out for my bday. So I go back to sleep for about another hour and finally decide its time to get up around....1pm...heh...I always chuckle a bit when I talk about gettin' up past noon. I go take a nice warm, long shower and when I get back in from the bathroom, I was startled to find my bro sitting in my room online shopping...heh.

We went to go pick up pops and check out his new place....actually, he's staying with a Vietnamese family and renting a room for 450 a month. Its a small room in a large 2 story house, but just like my dad, he made the best of it...its got a real pristine look....if a room can have a "look" with nothing but mock furniture(ie. storage bins piled up to make a nightstand, etc...). He just moved in 2 days ago, but the family seemed nice, and...well, pretty swanky digs man. After lookin' around, we headed out to the local little piece of China...which was centered around (of course) a 99 Ranch Market...I mean, this isn't a fluke...these little asian shopping communities ALWAYS have a 99 Ranch Market at the center....crazy...they're takin' over the world man.

After doin' a little foot work and shopping for a tea pot for my dad, we headed over to this Korean restaurant my dad and bro peeped out earlier. The deal with this place is that its a buffet....with the carts having veggies, raw marinated meat, raw seafood, asian stuff, dessert stuff, fruits...etc. And at each table is a circular grill, with a pot of broth in the middle....and with all the stuff you get at the carts, you can either grill it, or plop it in the pot and cook everything right at your table....mmmh mmh good! I especially liked the marinated meat...sweet, tender, juicy, soft......beef/pork/chicken....damn, that was good. I also had a jug of beer with my bro...haha, they kept on insisting on toasting, and clanking those cups together...hehe....I drank Heinikens(sp?) so of course it was pretty bitter...but what my bro tells me, beer and PIZZA is like unbeatable...haha. That sounds so "couch potato/sports fanatic"-ish....but shoot...I guess if anyone, THEY'RE the ones who would have beer figured out right? heh...right. Well, we chatted and caught up...and when things were through, my dad flipped the bill and we were off for an inpromtu visit to my cousins that live in San Jose.

We basically just showed up completely unannounced...heh...some would consider it rude, some would welcome it...anywayz, I think they were glad to see us. The running joke with them to us is, "you never write, you never call...you never e-mail, you never visit!"=)...I think we disturbed the family during dinner cuz there was a styrofoam(sp?) plate in the middle of the table with a whole grip of chow mein....heh, how funny. My dad just caught up and we all gathered around Michael's new, long in waiting, even longer in reserve, truly longed for, Playstation 2.=) I must say, it seems bigger on TV....but I guess TV adds 10 pounds, so...we were just chatting it up in the family room on the couch, while we were showed every new function of this new Sony wonder...heh...yeah, I had my misgivings about the PS2 last quote, and I shared them with Mike, and yeah, he agrees...my brother said that Sony actually sells the box at a loss, and recoups the loss through software...and that Sony's plan is to market it not only as a gaming platform, but part of a home family entertainment unit....with its DVD player capability and all. After I think was about an an hour and a half to 2 hours, we said our goodbyes....took pops back and my bro and I started the long journey to take me home...I kinda felt sorry for him, because the trip would take a little over 2 hours here(my place) and back to his pad...So he'd make it home around 10:30ish with work the next day.

On the drive, we just talked about how gay guys are always well dressed and well groomed....haha....actually, I brought it up. Then conversation turned to the age old topic of chics....man, my bro's pretty mack daddyish in a totally unconventional way...(although he'd do everything to deny such a description=) He's just a really personable guy, really easy to get along with and everything...popular guy in school...large group of friends...all that...and completely down to earth....yeah, I'm always the little bro lookin' up to him, but hey, thats the way things are with brothers eh?=) Anywayz, he was telling me about a recent date where the girl turned out to be a gold digger....stuff like that....well, this brings me to one of my "right off the bat" rules on women....when it comes to anything, like going out to dinner for the first time or something...I pretty much have it set in my mind I'm going to pay...I prepare the neccessary funds and I'll fight her for the bill...heh....BUT....she needs to offer. Thats right, I didn't say, "I'll pay but it'd be nice if she offered to pay"...nah nah...I said she NEEDS to offer...or its like, "bye...I'm not gonna see you again." heh...she's gotta offer...when the bill comes, she takes it and starts to fish around in her purse...haha..."Nah babe...I got it" "no no, I'll pay" "Nono..its cool, let me pay..." "No, at least lemme split it." Some girls fight pretty hard too...hehe...but if thats the case, I usually just say, "Nah, its okay...you get us next time okay?*smile*" That usually works=)...man, but the GOLD DIGGER...ugh...ewww. I guess it just worked out this way but I don't have any gold diggin' (female) friends....I think it'd be kinda interesting though....just to see how they act and stuff, but I guess my attitude just repells gold diggers...*chuckle*

Well, that was my day with all the commentary of a NFL game....more tomorro...for tonite, I think I'm gonna try and finish up that game of mine...or get closer at least....and....and I need to go microwave these slippers...=)

These new slippers are SOOO cool!

11/19/2000 10:11:09 PM

*#(*&%@#$ TABLET!! *sigh* I borrowed a Wacom Pen Tablet thingie from my friend, and I just can't get it to work right...I've been toying around with it for nearly 2 hours, and in that two hours, I've managed to disable my mouse 2wice, mess up my windows settings so that it only displayed in 16 colors(EGA for all u oldschoolers) and big ass crappy graphics....damn! I didn't do a damn thing but follow their directions to the T....downloaded the new drivers and all that jazz....DAMN WACOM! Well, I can only see 2 main reasons for the screw up. This pen tablet is really old....in computer terms...I think its a 96-97...the drivers were only for win95...thats how old....another thing is that the drivers don't respond to my video drivers well...which shouldn't be the case, since my video card is a highly supported VooDoo series one. *double sigh* I was so excited about using it too...

Well, I did manage to get Painter 6.0 and Photoshop 6.0 installed...yep, you heard me right...Photoshop 6.0...its gravy man...lookat me gettin' all excited over some new programs....*nerd alert* But damn....its cool=)

Glad to report today was a great day...and I'm glad too...cuz yesterday I was feelin' crummy. It started out today with me getting up ON TIME....being able to take my morning "feel-good" shower and be out the door ON TIME....I arrived to class ON TIME with all the hw done. My drawings went really well....my Muse was with me today. After class, I went over the PC labs at school to meet up with Will, and grab some more programs. We ended up wandering around the Metreon for a few hours....haven't been to that place in awhile. I love all the hip new gadgets in the Microsoft and Sony store...and who could forget the Playstation store...man, that place is too damn crowded for its own good...heh...little kids running all over the place, with big buff dudes as security...its kinda funny seeing these big guys "policing" little kids...its almost like they're big, musclar, meaty....nannys. Heh. But anywayz, I took a gander at a few new PS2 games....tell ya the truth, the PS2 doesn't interest me much...the games don't show very much inovation at all...its just a rehash of PS games that they decided to make sequels to...which so far has come to means, "take same concept, and improve graphics minutely". The only optimistic point I can see is that the programmers haven't yet taken full advantage of the PS2...they don't know how yet...so hopefully in months to come, we'll see increasingly dope games.

The original plan was to go play pool at the Metreon, but Sat night? No way that was gonna happen...some party had the place booked and all the tables were reserved...so we just grabbed something to eat...I had the penne pasta(I'm a pasta nut)...its great stuff, I have it whenever I eat at the Metreon. We had some good "artsy fartsy industry education" discussion, and we wandered some more...."Hey, lets go over to Virgin...there's a cafe there" So we went...not a far walk, just about a block away....the view from the cafe at the Virgin Megastore is really beautiful...a birdseye of Market St...y'kno, the good part of market street. I got a double cafe moka(I'm more of a Jamba Juice kinda guy myself, but once in awhile you may find me joining the craze with throngs of other "hip, sophisticated, young coffee drinkers") I finished a Sin City Graphic Novel..."A Dame To Kill For" was the title. I love those things...I wanna read 'em all....well, if you don't kno what I'm talking about...then hmm...you're just missing out=) We went off about talking about making our own comic...or game...then reality struck, so it was more toward mods...which take existing game engines, and you can modify them in a variety of ways...new texture maps, new character or building models...lighting, text...sound effects, music...all of that jazz. Its definately cool to hang with people who share your interests...and who knows, could be future colleagues on a joint venture sometime.

Basically, thats the gist of the day...I had fun...got home around 10ish. Oh, btw....I don' think I like my new housemates....the OTHER couple. Theres a big list of things...aww what the hell, should I list a few? Well, the dude can't aim......you heard me, he can't freakin' aim. I go in to the bathroom and the seat is like covered in whiz....I mean, wtf...can you not lift the seat up to do your business...and if not, which is all good...then can you not wipe the seat for the next person? Secondly, if I see any of them...they basically look at me, and go on doing their business...so there's no effort to get to know your fellow housemates...yeah, I could go out of my way to like try to get to know them....but no...heh. Shit, I'mma a hypocrite on this one...besides, when I see the dude interacting with the "cool couple", I just get the feelin' he's an ass. "How presumptuous Dan!" Yeah, I kno...damn, I can't even understand what they're saying, but blah....So I come in the door tonite...drop my stuff off in my room, and head off to the bathroom to wash my hands....I get out of the bathroom and who's there nuking something with my microwave while chatting on her cell phone...its the female half of the "other" couple. Yeah, she's using my microwave....and believe me, that doesn't bother me in the least...if it helps u get your food warm, by all means, I don't mind at all. So then I start walking out into the kitchen on the way to my room...she half turns around to see who it is....sees its me, then turns around to watch her food being nuked and continues to talk on her cell....uh...okay....I don't like you. heh....haha....Damn, Dan had a good day and he's still bitchy....well, I don't rant TOO often, so please, humor me.=) No wave, no nod...pssh...man, if I was feelin' especially bitchy, I'd just say...."Don't use my microwave anymore...I don't like you" hahahaAH...damn, should I? Anywayz, thanks for listening guys...I'm feeling better now...this ranting really does help......interesting.....

Well, take it easy all of you out there in TV land...yeah...you....I'm talkin' to you...*points finger at YOU*...take care man...
